摘要:Stonefish samples (Synanceia verrucosa) werecollected along the coastline of the Gulf of Aqaba,Red Sea.The acute toxicity of the extracted venomon BALB/c mice was evaluated using the bio-chemical assays: Lipid Peroxidation (LPO),AlanineTransaminase (ALT), Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT),and Lactate Dehydrogenase(LDH).Results showed that when mice are injectedintramuscularly with 0.107mg venom/kg,the venominduces a significant increase in lipid peroxidationlevels andaseriesofhistopathologicalcharacteristics,such assevere inflammation,haemorrhage,andcellular degeneration incardiovascular tissue.Moreover,enzymaticactivities were evaluated.Significant increases inALT,GGT,and LDH activities were found due tocellular injuries caused by the stonefish venom.
