摘要:From informative essays to bold academic studies, books denouncing the diseases of jour- nalism are a swarm, and a recurring one at that. It is not difficult to detect an illness, espe- cially if it has visible effects. But few explain the causes. Few go beyond describing the symptoms to actually diagnose the disease; although such works exist, they usually enjoy less editorial and public success, even in the academic world. Books that propose a cure for the ailment, or ailments, are rare indeed. It is already a miracle if the recovery plan is accepted with no argument, or with only reasonable debate.
