摘要:pAccording to statistics, Romania ranks last in Europe in terms of digitalization and the level of digital skills held by the population. The purpose of this research is to identify two possible causes that would explain the digital gap that Romania is currently facing. Thus, the two possible causes are: the digital divide between urban and rural areas, as well as the curricular structure at the level of other European countries and Romania’s position regarding the general educational performance measured by PISA tests.pThe methodology used in this study is secondary analysis of the data from INSE and Eurostat. The research results indicate that in Romania there is a major problem regarding online public services, citizens opting for the classic method of interaction with public authorities and this causes a digital gap between urban and rural areas. Regarding the general level of educational performance measured by the PISA tests, a fluctuating trend was observed during the seven test cycles and we continue to remain among other unsatisfactory results.
