摘要：The article presents and describes the methodology for assessing human capital level using the human development index. The assessment was carried out on the example of the regions of the Russian Federation within the framework of the sustainable development concept. The priority goals of sustainable development related to human capital have been identified. The methodology for calculating the human development index is described, taking into account the characteristics of a particular country and its regions. All components of the final human development index are considered in detail. Its indicators are analyzed on the example of the Russian Federation regions. The final stage was the compilation of a rating of the Russian Federation regions according to the human development index, strong and weak regions were identified. The advantages and disadvantages of this index approach are described and how this approach is adapted to the conditions of a particular country.
