摘要：Ironworking, which has a long history and variety, has an important place in Turkish crafts, culture and mythology. Iron in Anatolia reflects strong craftsmanship and has a variety of products. There are rich iron deposits in the Adıyaman-Malatya-Elazığ-Tunceli districts which compose the Upper Euphrates Region of the Eastern Anatolia Region. Reşid Mehmed Pasha, who was assigned to organize the eastern provinces in 1834, moved to the center of Mamuret-ül Aziz (Elazığ) province from Harput to the Agavat Village in the plain, when this village was made the administrative centre of the province. This situation caused Harput to lose its strategic importance. However, Harput was an important iron production centre especially in the 19th century. There were many iron craftsmen and shops here, and there were also smelteries. Iron production, which was done intensively in Elazığ in the past, has gradually lost its intensity over time, and nowadays it is maintained only by a few masters in the provincial centre. Iron work, which has been produced in Elazığ, has a wide variety of forms and features. During the prepation of the research, one-to-one interviewers were made with the exciting craftsmen, interviewers were made and their productions were recorded with photos and videos. There are also folk beliefs about iron in Elazığ.
