摘要:Traffic crashes are one of the main causes of mortality in the world. Driving anger and aggressive driving are risk factors frequently related to traffic crashes. Emotional intelligence has been recognized as a predictive factor for various types of aggressive behaviors. The aim of this paper was to analyze the role of emotional intelligence on aggressive driving and traffic violations. 318 undergraduates with driver license (82.5% females) aged between 19 and 27 years (M=20.77, SD=1.39) completed a survey battery measuring emotional intelligence (TMMS-24), traffic violations (DBQ), driving anger (DAS) and aggressive driving (DAX). Hierarchical regressions controlling respondent age and gender supported the predictive utility of Emotional Intelligence over traffic violations and mode of expressing anger while driving, especially adaptive expression. So, improving drivers Emotional Intelligence may be useful in preventing these risky driving behaviors
