摘要:In Mexico, dating violence is a serious and growing problem among adolescents. The objective of this study is to analyze emotional dependence as a predictor of violence received and perpetrated in dating relationships. 301 pre-university students between 14 and 20 years old participated (M = 16.38, SD = 1.27). The Reduced Dating Violence Questionnaire and the Dating Dependency Scale were administered. The results show that the greater the manifestation of emotional dependence on the partner, the more at risk adolescents are of victimization and of exercising violence of all kinds in their dating relationship. The most important explanatory factors for girls are avoiding being alone and asymmetric relationships, and for boys avoiding being alone. Based on the results, the role of emotional dependence is analyzed as a variable that facilitates the expression of violence received and that should be considered for interventions aimed at promoting healthy and positive dating relationships.
