摘要:AbstractAchieving a good thermal balance in a Hall-Heroult cell is imperative for operating the process at high efficiency. Most existing thermal models in the literature either do not capture spatial cell conditions, or do not contain the appropriate level of complexity. This paper presents a spatially-discretized dynamic model suitable for monitoring and control purposes, which makes use of the measurements of anode current distribution in the Hall-Héroult cells. Additionally, an estimation of localized state variables, including bath temperature and ledge thickness, from shell temperature measurements is also being presented to demonstrate a potential usage of the model for soft sensing.
