摘要：AbstractSocial innovation is a complex area of research that has received a great deal of attention, especially recently. The development of digital technologies such as cyber-physical systems, big data, machine learning, blockchain, artificial intelligence and Internet-of-Things presents new opportunities for technology-based social innovations. Our paper places social innovation in the context of engineering -and proposes the integration of social innovation methodology in the development of products or services for older people. Governments need to help social enterprises in the field of engineering by laying the foundations for ‘what works’ policymaking and the development of evidence-based initiatives. The purpose of this paper is to review the development of social innovations supporting multiple intelligences of older people and to provide examples of good practice in order to develop a model and propose a future research agenda. Cybersecurity and the ethical dimension within technically based social innovation are highlighted.
