摘要:A large body of epidemiological research has identifiedfactors that put members of sexual minorities at risk formental health problems, including depression, anxiety, andsuicidal behavior. Research usually associates interpersonaldiscrimination with poor mental health outcomes amonglesbian, gay, and bisexual people (LGB), including symptomrates well above those of heterosexual people for depressionand anxiety, 1-4 emotional distress, 5,6 low self-esteem, 7 panicdisorders, 8 suicide, and the risk of suicide. 4,9,10 Therefore, it isclear that mental health problems are more prevalent amongsexual minorities than among heterosexuals 11 due to exposureto social discrimination. 12 In fact, sexual minority statusseems to influence the probability of experiencing emotionalstress and the likelihood of having or having had mentalhealth problems, such as depression, eating disorders, andsuicidal ideation in the past 12 months.
