  • 摘要:Cristina-Souza G, Dall’acqua F, Mariano ACS, Rodacki C, Bertuzzi R, Lima-Silva AE. Caffeine Improves Flexibility Ability in Young Post-Pubertal Females. JEPonline 2019;22(1):45-50. The purpose of this study was to investigate the acute effects of caffeine ingestion on flexibility of young females. Twelve young post-pubertal females (age: 17.4 ± 3.2 yrs; weight: 54.6 ± 6.4 kg; height: 162.2 ± 4.0 cm), who were physically active, participated in this study. On the first visit, preliminary measurements and familiarization steps were carried out. During the next two follow-up visits, using a double-blind, counterbalanced and crossover design, the subjects performed a flexibility test 1 hr after ingesting 5 mg∙kg-1 body mass of caffeine or placebo. Both right and left forward splits were significantly improved by caffeine (12.9 ± 9.8 and 19.0 ± 11.4 cm) when compared to the placebo (17.2 ± 8.4 and 25.0 ± 10.7 cm, P<0.05). However, caffeine had no effect on straddle split (P>0.05). The present study reveals that caffeine significantly improved the flexibility of young females. This is an important finding because an improvement in flexibility might promote a better quality of life and a higher performance during competitive sports that require a high level of flexibility.
