摘要:Lambert CP. Editorial: Is It Time for a “Muscle-Centric” View of Maximal Oxygen Consumption during Exercise? JEPonline 2019;22(2):1-4. Traditionally, maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) has been thought to be under the primary control of the cardiovascular system by way of an increase in heart rate (HR) and stroke volume (SV). This editorial provides evidence that oxygen consumption (VO2) during exercise is under the primary control of the skeletal muscle mass (as central motor drive activates skeletal muscle primarily) and the cardiovascular system then responds to this skeletal muscle direct influence.
