Influence of Ethnicity and Gene Polymorphism T786C eNOS on Post-Exercise Hypotension in Hypertensive Adults.JEPonline 2020; 23(2):61-70. The purpose of this study was to verifythe influence of ethnicity and polymorphism on the eNOS T-786Cgene (rs2070744) in the response of blood pressure to an exercisesession. Eighty-nine hypertensive subjects (age, 57.6 ± 8.7 yrs; 26with white skin and 63 with dark skin) were initially genotyped andsubmitted to a 60-min running/walking session of moderate intensity.Their blood pressure was measured before exercise, immediatelyafter exercise, and every 10 min of a 60-min recovery period afterexercise. There was a decrease in post-exercise systolic bloodpressure of 6.9 ± 11.0 mmHg at 10 min, which increased to 10.9 ±12.0 mmHg at 20 min. Then, it remained stable for the rest of therecovery period. Ethnicity and genotype did not modify theseresponses. The results indicate that hypertensive subjects with darkskin also benefit by the phenomenon of post-exercise hypotension.
