  • 摘要:Santos NGN, Costa Filho PN, Corrêa MCQ, Almeida MN, Palma A.Effects of Handling Volume and Intensity Loads in the Periodizationon Physical Performance in Swimmers: Comparison of Three Models.JEPonline 2020;23(6):14-28. The purpose of this study was to analyzethe effects of three distinct models of handling volume and intensityloads during 6 wks of swim training on physical performance, biochemical, and hematological markers. Forty-three subjectsparticipated in this study. They were divided into 3 groups: (a) in thefirst group (VOL), a progressive increase in volume was applied whilethe maintenance of intensity load was constant; (b) the second group(INT) consisted of lower volume with a higher intensity; and (c) in thethird group (VOL-INT), firstly, the higher training volume had beenperformed and, later the intensity was increased. Overall, the groupthat used the most intense loads (INT) showed the highest physicalperformance and the highest values of the biochemical andhematological markers that suggest a lower risk of cell injuries andovertraining. Hence, the findings indicate that the use of the swimtraining with high intensity throughout the training period will producethe biggest improvements in performance as well as a lower risk ofcell injuries and overtraining.
