摘要:The purpose of thepresent study was to evaluate the effects of Kung Fu gymnastics onthe physical fitness of middle-aged and older adult women 50 to 70yrs old, compared to Tai Chi. Twenty-one adult women were includedin this study: 13 in the Kung Fu gymnastics group, and 8 in the Tai Chigroup. Both groups performed 60 min of exercise twice a week for 6wks. Before and after the intervention, grip strength, standing longjump, modified sit-and-reach, side steps, and sit ups were measured.Two-way repeated measure ANOVA revealed with no significantinteraction in the others. However, significant main time effects (prevs. post-test) were observed for the standing long jump, modified sitand-reach, side steps, and sit ups. The results show that Kung Fugymnastics for 6 wks improved the physical strength of middle-agedand older women. This improvement in strength was found to becomparable to that gained from doing Tai Chi. Kung Fu gymnastics isan appropriate and effective program for improving the physicalfitness of middle-aged and older women.
