摘要:The effects of global warming and air pollution on pregnant women are not clear. We investigatedthe impact of sudden changes in ambient tempera- ture and particulate matter on premature birth, low birth weight for gestation, and stillbirth. This retro- spective study included pregnant women who gave birth in Konya City Hospital between September 2020 and May 2021. We recorded the average ambi- ent temperature and particulate matter measurementsuring the last week of participants' pregnancies in Konya, the city in which the participants resided dur- ing pregnancy. We also recorded data regarding ges- tational age, birth weight, birth length, head circum- ference, birth weight according to gestational age (small, appropriate, or large), and sex. The study in- cluded 3045 pregnancies. Both PM10 (i.e. particleswith a diameter of210 m) and temperature deviation values from the last week of pregnancy were signifi- cantly higher for preterm vs. non-preterm infants p=0.013 and p=0.001, respectively) and stillborn vs. live-born infants (p=0.013 and p=0.001, respec- tively). PM10 was significantly associated with be- ing small for gestational age (p=0.045). Temperature deviation during the last week of pregnancy was notsignificantly different between birth weight groupsp=0.868). The negative effects of industrializationcontinue to impact pregnancies and fetal and neona- tal development.
