摘要：Maintaining a healthy environment by today's civilization is a continuous and real challenge in the context oftechnological development, new materials use and the continuous increase of inhabitants. Con-sidering these issues, compliance with and develop-ment of the principles of environmental sustainabil-ity is imperative. The paper presents aspects related to the way of knowing the issue of waste manage-ment in Romania, by respondents with different ed-ucational levels. The results of the study showed that over70%of the respondents who answered affirma-tive regarding the knowledge related to waste man-agement have higher and postgraduate studies. Re-garding the selective collection 57.14% of the re-spondents with high school education stated that they would not opt for a selective collection while 68.22%of the respondents who would opt for a se-lective collection have higher and postgraduate stud-ies.
