摘要：Protected area（PA）management framework represent one of the pillars of sustainable manage ment of PA because，the basics set out in strategio egislative，and institutional frameworks，enableactive management and financing of nature protec tion in Serbia.Therefore，this research deals wit PA management frameworks by comparing them in selected countries of Southeastern Europe（SEEand the European Union（EU）.The study further includes a comparison of the frameworks by th sectors of nature protection，environment，and fon stry，since these sectors are involved in the man agement of PA.Looking at the legislative frame.work，it has been revealed that all selected SEE countries have separate laws that regulate PA man agement，the management plan defines long-tern management goals，and the adoption of these plans envisaged the involvement of the local community Future research should be directed towards the assessment of human and infrastructure capacities analysis of institutional frameworks for the estab lishment of new and management of existing PAs. and identification of financial resources necessarfor the proper functioning of institutional frame- works.
