摘要:Range inventory is the basis of determining rangeland vegetation and condition upon which de-pendent are decisions of grazing and browsing as well as rendering any range improvement measures. The present research aimed at vegetation and stock-ing rate assessment of one of the important southern Punjab rangelands named Rakh Choti Dalana. The research work was made use of transacts line and quadrats as tools of assessment. Data were recorded on relative values of frequency, density, and cover along with their importance values as well as animal stocking rate small and large ruminants was deter-mined. Results revealed that Haloxylon salicornium remained leading species in terms of relative values of frequency(0.24), density(0.18),cover(0.23)and importance value(0.66). H.salicornium, E.hirsutus, R.stricta, E. flagellifera showed dominance(73%and 81%) in terms of relative values of frequency and density out of important eleven species whereas W.coagulans, H.salicornium, E.hirsutus, R. stricta and Kindica contributed 81%of the relative cover. Regarding stocking rate assessment, based on weight of animal and amount of forage they consume a total of 75 buffalos, 100 cows,628 sheep and 1616 goats could be allowed to graze on per annum basis when allowed on individual basis. The study concluded the need for rigorous efforts to bring about improvement in vegetation and grazing system for improved ani-mal productivity and range health.
