  • 标题:INFLUENCE OF SOME HERBICIDES ON WEEDS QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY OF POTATO CROP (SOLANUM TUBEROSUM L.)IN NEWLY RECLAIMED AREAS

  • 摘要:The experiments were conducted at Badr center, Behaira Governorate,Egypt to study the effect of some herbicides on weeds and potato crop, during 2017/18 and 2018/19 winter seasons. Each experiment comprised five treatments which were:1-Metribuzin WP 70%(metribuzin) at rate of 300 g fed-1; applied at 5% emergence of potato seedling. 2-Rimsulfuron DF 25%(rimsulfuron) at rate of 25g fed-1; applied at (2 - 4) leaves of potato.3-Pyraflufen-ethyl SC 2%(pyraflufen-ethyl) at rate of 0.25 L fed-1; applied at 5%emergence of potato seedling followed by Fluazifop-P-butyl 15 % EC (fluazifop-p-butyl 1.4 L fed-1),applied at 30 DAP. 4-Hand hoeing twice at 35 and 55 DAP.5-Untreated check (Cotrol).
The results showed that the best treatments for controlling weeds (Coronopus didymus, Chenopo-dium album, Medicago polymorpha and Phalaris minor) in potato were Metribuzin, Rimsulfuron, Pyraflufen-ethyl followed by Fluazifop-P-butyl and hand hoeing twice for controlling annual grassy and Broadleaf weeds in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 winter seasons. Moreover, these treatments increased the number of tubers, average weight of tuber, number of tuber/10 kg, plant height (cm), and number of main stems, tuber grading index, tuber shape index, tuber dry matter, and starch content % and tuber specific gravity as compared with untreated check during both sowing seasons of the study.
Therefore, the following treatments are recommendded to use Rimsulfuron and Pyraflufen-ethyl followed by Fluazifop-P-butyl and hand hoeing twice to control weeds in the potato crop to obtain the highest yield and quality of potato tubers.
