  • 摘要:A field experiment was conducted during the growing seasons 2018 and 2019 to study the effect of weed control treatments on some growth charac-ters of maize and associated weeds. The treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block de-sign (RCBD) with four replications. Weeds manage-ment was compared with untreated check; however, hand weeded twice was not superior to herbicide treatments. Regarded the herbicidal treatments Sonic +Maister power(504+600)cm3/ha.,was proved to be better in controlling weeds, increasing plant height, leaf area index and photosynthetic pigments content and decreasing fresh and dry weight of weeds. Application of weed control treatments cause less weed biomass and increase some of growth characters of maize. It may be concluded that all the weed control practices reduced the weeds and im-proved the grain yield of maize. Sonic + Maister power(504+600)cm3 /ha.,a systemic pre and post emergence herbicide was more effective in provid-ing broad-spectrum weed control in maize and hav-ing potential to replace the herbicide high rate therefore provide the cost. Thus, the pre-emergence application of sonic 504 cm3/ha along with post-emergence Maister power 600 cm3/ha at 25 DAS could be an effective option for controlling weeds as well as for getting higher growth yield of maize.
