摘要:The aim of this research is to describe the school administrators’ organizational socialization experiences and to explain these experiences’ meanings in organizational and societal contexts. The qualitative study was designed as phenomenological research. Six school administrators who worked in Anatolian high schools in a city center in Eastern Anatolia in Turkey and participated voluntarily in the research constitute the study group of the research. Research data were collected through face-to-face interviews using a semi-structured interview form. The collected data were analyzed by content analysis method. The results of the research show that organizational socialization for school principals and vice principals occurs incidentally, informally, and with individual effort at every stage of organizational socialization. Findings related to the results of organizational socialization indicate the existence of an uncertainness about issues, such as job satisfaction, continuing to be a school administrator, job description of school administrators rather than a successful socialization. The results related to professional socialization reveal that the requirements of the job are learned from experienced people through informal and random processes, and the high workload and responsibility of the job is a serious source of dissatisfaction.
