摘要:AbstractVirulent epileptogenic insult is still one of the most life-threatening deficits during the clinical consequences and neurological emergencies of epilepsy. Thus, this study is designed to determine the changes in the expression of neurotransmitters, imbalance in blood electrolytes; oxidative stress, levels of pro-/anti-inflammatory cytokines, after treatment with pasipay (Passiflora incarnata). The effect of oral administration of 200 mg/kg body weight ofP. incarnataon pilocarpine-induced seizures was assessed. The correlation between seizure activity and levels of proinflammatory cytokines; anti-inflammatory cytokines; oxidative stress biomarkers, monoamines, neurotransmitters; electrolytes and Th1/Th2 activities was quantified. The present study revealed a highly significant amelioration in amino acids, neurotransmitters, blood electrolytes, antioxidants and inflammatory cytokines in epileptic-treated rats with pasipay (P. incarnata). In conclusion, the present study supports further attempts to abrogate the neural dysfunction via antioxidant and anti-inflammatory cascade activities usingP. incarnata.
