摘要:Aluminum phosphide, an insecticide used to preserve grains, is commonly used as a suicidal poison in India and its neighboring countries. It’s toxic effect is not only discernable to insects and rodents but equally extends to human population. This study presents an unusual yet noteworthy case of inhalation of Phosphine from the storage of Aluminum Phosphide tablets, causing death of two persons in Delhi, the capital city of India. Two victims working in a transport company, who slept in the warehouse, were found unconscious next morning and later declared dead at hospital. The circumjacent area near the bodies was found intact and was not suggestive of any foul play. On vigilant search, suspicious packets of gray tablets were discovered which were later substantiated with chemical analysis in forensic laboratory as poisonous substance. The mystery behind the death was unfolded after cautious scene of crime investigation and chemical analysis of visceral tissues.
