摘要:The objective of this article is to approach the act of writing as a contradictory expressional of thought and experience of Carolina Maria de Jesus. Her severe view of poverty, hunger, indingence, precarious and informal work has haceived reasonable attention in many studies in diferent areas, a fact that has made and make her autobiolgraphical narratives sources for discussion questioning the lives of very poor workers in history of Brazil during the 1940-1970 period. Hers narratives opened and open possibilites to access important dimensions of life and work in a historical universe so precarious that it represented the lowest step in the social stratification of the time. Knowing how to read, write and elaborate everyday narratives, made Carolina’s presence in the history of Brazil, peculiar, especially in the social history of work. The literature produced by Carolina was directly interested in expressing her worldview, her view of herself and how she would like to be seen. That’s how she translated the world of workers of wich she was part. For this reason, it is necessary to deepen the autobiografpical sense of his writings in a reality marked by widespread illiteracy among workers who lived in conditions similar to those experienced by Carolina Maria de Jesus.
