摘要：The aim of this article was to analyze, through Piauí’s periodical O Expectador, the effects that cholera caused in the province of Piauí in 186The methodology consisted of bibliographical and documentary research, analyzing mainly published editions of the newspaper O Expectador between june and september of 186It was pointed out that between may and september of 1862, cholera became a common element in the pages of O Expectador, pointing out the actions taken by the provincial government and the production of an imaginary of fear related to the disease.
