摘要:Taking the idea of economics as a moral science seriously, as practiced by our greatest predecessors, underwrites an intimate connection between doing the history of economic thought and doing economics. Economics has always entailed moral concerns, and moral philosophy is not, pace positivist dogma, a realm where reasoned inquiry is out of place. The study of economic thought, further, can bridge ideological divides, uniting co-inquirers in reverence for the thinkers and the texts who made and continue to make our discipline.
