摘要:AbstractCustomized products refer to personalized services, which range from a simple choice of color to mass customization. Mass customization is acknowledged as a strategy to differentiate products and services according to consumer preferences. However, this type of manufacture can be more expensive than the production of standardized items. Additionally, its process can become complex and designers and manufacturers have to define their own methods and tools, keeping lower either costs and delivery time. This work proposes a methodology for defining and implementing a Configurator that can assist in the furniture design process, automating at least part of the desired solution generation and facilitating the adaptation of customer needs to the project. The Configurator models the factory own rules to keep the final cost low and fulfilling customer wishes. This idea is not new, however, it is very difficult to create a usable tool like that. The proposed methodology was applied to the MODÚ company by implementing the Smart Configurator.
