摘要：A restauração e revitalização do patrimônio contribuem para o desenvolvimento do turismo cultural, protegendo a história local para as gerações futuras. Para isso, é relevante preservar e preparar o local para receber os visitantes, quando se tornar em um atrativo da oferta turística. Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar as interrelações entre turismo cultural e patrimônio, por meio de um estudo de caso sobre o Ginásio Nossa Senhora das Dores, localizado no Centro Histórico de Porto Alegre, no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Metodologicamente, o estudo é apoiado por revisão bibliográfica e entrevistas. Verificou-se que o futuro Centro Cultural La Salle, a ser instalado na cidade, pode se tornar um novo ponto turístico no Centro Histórico de Porto Alegre. Da mesma forma, a restauração do edifício sede o valoriza e o prepara para integrar não só a oferta turística, mas também pode trazer novos significados para população local.PALAVRAS-CHAVEHeritage restoration and revitalization contribute to the development of cultural tourism, protecting local history for future generations. This article aims to present the interrelationships between cultural tourism and heritage, through a case study about the Gymnasium Nossa Senhora das Dores, located in Porto Alegre Historic Center, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Methodologically, the study is supported by a bibliographic review and interviews. It was found that the future Centro Cultural La Salle, to be installed on the site, could become a new tourist attraction, in Porto Alegre Historic Centre. In the same way, the build restoration enhances and prepares it to integrate not only tourist offers, but may also provide new meanings for local inhabitants.
