Panama and the United States of America signed a contract forits construction, and it was inaugurated in 1914. The Panama Canal passed to Panamanian administration in 2000. It remains as it was the first day due to its rigorous maintenance.The growing demand for canal services and the tendency to build larger ships made the expansion of the canal a reality today.
