摘要：Un tecolote rítmico (Megascops trichopsis), la segunda especie más pequeña del género Megascops en México, fue admitido en el Centro de Atención de Fauna de la Reserva Ecológica del Pedregal de San Ángel. En el examen físico general no encontramos patologías aparentes, pero el tecolote no podía volar ni cazar. Con base en lo anterior, determinamos que el tecolote era candidato para ser rehabilitado con el propósito de reintroducirlo a la vida silvestre. Durante la rehabilitación implementamos vuelos cortos, vuelos largos al aire libre y vuelos verticales. Además, ofrecimos presas vivas para estimular el comportamiento de caza. Una vez rehabilitado tomamos muestras de sangre, heces y realizamos un examen oftalmológico. Previo a la liberación llevamos a cabo un examen físico general donde el tecolote presentó un peso adecuado (120 g). No encontramos endoparásitos, ni alteraciones en el examen oftalmológico. El tecolote se mostró alerta y elusivo, sin signos de habituación al contacto humano. Tuvo un comportamiento de vuelo y caza exitosos. Sus valores hematológicos se encontraron dentro de los rangos óptimos reportados para Megascops asio y Asio flammeus. Es el primer reporte de valores hematológicos y bioquímicos de esta especie.
其他摘要：A whiskered screech-owl (Megascops trichopsis), the second smallest owl of the genus Megascops in Mexico, was admitted at the Wildlife Care Center of El Pedregal de San Angel Ecological Reserve. After performing the physical examination we found no pathologies, but the owl was not able to fly or to hunt successfully. Based on these we determined that the owl was candidate for rehabilitation for the purpose of reintroducing it to the wild. During the rehabilitation, short indoor, long outdoor and vertical flights were carried out. In addition, we offered different live preys to simulate hunting behavior. After rehabilitation, we take blood and fecal samples. Also, a complete ophthalmological examination was carried out. Before the release, a general physical evaluation was carried out where the owl showed an adequate weight (120 g). We did not find endoparasites, or alterations in the ophthalmological exam. The owl was alert and elusive, with no signs of habituation to human contact. Also, a successful flight and hunting behavior was observed. Their hematological values were within the optimal ranges reported for Megascops asio and Asio flammeus. This is the first report of hematological and biochemical values of this species.
