摘要:The Upin Ipin animated television series that was first aired in 2007 was a huge sensation. This success was further amplified by their movie titled Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal, garnering more than RM25 million in box office collection in 2019. Digital Durian is the creators of Didi & Friends and Omar dan Hana - Malaysia's most loved preschool animation that has more than 1 Billion views on YouTube. This has signified a welcome response from local audiences towards the Malaysian animation arena. Malaysia had been producing many animated films such as Bawang Putih Bawang Merah (2001) and Silat Lagenda (1998). However, these films failed to impress the local audience. Qualitatively, this study discusses the challenges of distributing animated products from the perspectives of two animation productions, Digital Durian Animation Studio Sdn. Bhd and Les Copaque Sdn. Bhd. Four significant challenges were found which include challenges in animation production, challenges in regards to animation audiences, challenges in marketing and distribution, as well as domestic challenges in looking at local animation competition with overseas products. It can be concluded that both animation companies have their challenges in marketing and animation distribution to strengthen and introduce their animation to both the local and international industry.
