摘要:Physical fitness in children has been shown to be an important future health indicator. Therefore, periodic assessments should be carried out and reference standards obtained for comparison. The aim of this study was to provide reference standards verifying schoolchildren’s physical fitness levels in sixth grade of Primary Education in Logroño, and to analyse the influence of biological maturity on fitness. The study was conducted with a representative sample of 329 students aged 11-12 from all 31 schools of the city. Data included their body mass index, biological maturity and physical fitness related to health. With the exception of handgrip strength, test results were different according to sex (p<0.01), so percentiles are shown by sex. Percentile 50 of aerobic capacity was 42.6 and 46.7 ml/kg/min for girls and boys, with 84% having healthy values. Girls showed higher biological maturity (p=0.01), but test results were not significantly influenced by this variable, except in handgrip strength. This study provides reference standards from a representative sample of schoolchildren for fitness tests with important health implications. These standards will allow sixth grade schoolchildren’s physical fitness levels to be determined in relation to their peers.
