摘要:In this paper, the origin and the significant development of Massive Open Online Education (MOOC) is analyzed. The MOOC-type education has only a brief history, although today it can provide degrees both on bachelor's and master's levels. The opinion of some experts is that MOOC universities belong to the Christensen-type disruptive innovation. This article compares the welfare effects of MOOC universities with that of Gutenberg’s book printing. Moreover, in connection with the provision of higher education presents the financing models of the existing MOOC platforms.
