摘要：Today, modern cartography includes a broad range of applications such as digital maps, digital mapping products, alternative forms of visualization and analysis of digital geospatial data. It addresses the development of a theoretical/conceptual framework that explain various mapping processes. This paper is an analysis of some contemporary theoretical concepts about the map and cartography. Due to methodological aspects, conceptual analysis of the mapping is very important and therefore is treated by the ICA in mapping theory for many years. A map can be produced in three different formats: as a hard copy (paper maps, press plastic), geo - digital dataset (spatial and/or mapping) and cartographic visualization of data from geographic database (map multimedia presentation). One of the most useful approaches to the study of cartography is the definition of maps as a form of visual communication - a special purpose language for describing spatial relationships. Different models describing structural mapping as a science, academic discipline, technology and art.
