摘要:Menopause is a period composed of several changes and transformations in the woman's life, characterizing the end of their reproductive period. Thus, the significant decrease in hormones in the female body results in a wide range of unpleasant signs and symptoms characteristic of this phase, with emphasis on psychic manifestations. The objective of the work is to carry out a bibliographic survey about the psychiatric disorders manifested during the menopause period. A search was carried out in the Pubmed, SciELO, Lilacs and Cochrane Library databases with the descriptors “Menopause” OR “Climacteric” OR “Middle Aged” AND “Mental disorders” OR “depression” OR “anxiety” including articles published in 2010 to 2020. The results show that depression and anxiety are among the most common psychiatric disorders in the period and that economic, social and cultural factors can influence these symptoms.
