摘要:This article proposes a reflection on the challenges that blacks and browns face to access the Brazilian educational system and the importance of Federal Law 12.711/12 in the implementation of quotas, especially racial ones, in the federal education network. Recalling the historical aspects related to the process of enslavement of blacks and their implications for the formation of the Brazilian working class constitutes indispensable assumptions for understanding the quota policy regulated through Federal Law 12.711/12. The Quota Law has been an important mechanism for expanding access to education, however, this admission into the educational system cannot be separated from the idea of emancipation, which constitutes as one of the pillars for building a more just and egalitarian society. In this sense, it is proposed to understand the technical education offered by the Federal Institutes under an emancipatory perspective, committed to the transformation of society through the emancipation of the subjects.
