摘要：The aim of the present study was to expose, through an integrative literature review, the importance of using active principles derived from marijuana (Cannabis sativa) in the pharmaceutical industry. An integrative literature review was carried out. It was adopted as a criterion that include scientific documents, which presented a relationship with the application of marijuana in the pharmaceutical industry in a time frame between 2006 and 2021, in order to discuss the scientific evidence of the last fifteen years. The use of active compounds from Cannabis sativa in the industry is still something little explored, especially in Brazil. One of the main factors that contributes to the lack of interest in the use of marijuana is the illicit recreational use of marijuana. But this is being released for cultivation and studies by competent companies, and may bring a series of benefits to both human health and pharmaceutical industries. It has numerous therapeutic actions related to secondary metabolites. It is worth highlighting the proven effects against diseases such as epilepsy, anxiety, depression, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and headache. For these reasons, in line with the world trend in which it is clear that consumers are prioritizing the use of natural-based products, showing the wide field of study and technology for further study developments.
