摘要:The aim of this study is present the life story of three adolescents in emotional distress. We want to understand the reasons that led them to spontaneously seek specialized mental health services. Three interviews were conducted with each adolescent; the first was a semi-structured interview, the second was the construction of a family photo album, and the third was a chronology of life, focusing on positive and negative experiences, dreams and fears of the future. They spontaneously sought the mental health service in the municipality of Mato Grosso between January and July 2020. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study, which uses the method of life history and thematic content analysis. They experienced poverty, family disorder, family violence, excessive alcohol consumption, lack of support and family reference, sexual abuse, self-mutilation and suicide attempt. These factors caused emotional suffering and motivated the search for help at the health service. The lack of support hindered their healthy development and growth and contributed to their emotional suffering. Results showed that these young people need an attention that goes beyond a biomedical vision, that understands them, observing their anxieties and seeking to work on the construction of their identity with a focus on health promotion It can be concluded that the emotional suffering experienced by these young people was what led them to look for an emotional support service.
