摘要:Objective: To understand the experiences of elderly people living with HIV, subsidized by complexity. Method: Qualitative multiple case study conducted in 2015 with eight elderly people, using a form based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. The analysis was based on three analytical strategies: general, theoretical and descriptive. Results: Seven women and one man were interviewed; they were between 60 and 72 years old. They acquired HIV through sexual intercourse with a partner/husband. They were diagnosed after a routine medical consultation, presented symptoms of the disease or discovered their partner's serology. They had difficulty in accepting their HIV status, not disclosing their diagnosis and presenting disappointment in their relationships and prejudice against their HIV status. Conclusion: It was verified that the elderly discovered their serology through routine medical consultation and/or through the unveiling of the serology in their partners/husbands. They had difficulty in accepting their HIV status and kept their status secret, showing disappointment in their relationships and fear of prejudice.
