  • 摘要:The present study sought, through a qualitative research, to understand the perception of humanization, among dentistry students, in dental care, in teaching clinics of a public university in the Southeast region of Brazil. Among the data production techniques, the focus group was chosen, in order to promote a participatory discussion of the study topic. Six students participated in this research, from different age groups and periods. Regarding the period, the participants were between the first and eighth period of the Dentistry course. Two participants were in the initial periods, having experienced visits to the Basic Health Unit and four students were in the periods with clinical experience and greater contact with the patient. As theoretical support for the elaboration of the script, the guidelines of the National Humanization Policy were used. The findings were interpreted according to content analysis, based on Symbolic Interactionism, which seeks to understand the relationship of social groups with human conduct in their daily relationship. After interpretation, three themes emerged: Perception of humanization; Humanization and Teaching and Users' Rights. It is important, in undergraduate courses in Dentistry, that the teaching of humanization is covered in a transversal way, in order to make theoretical approaches, with a vision that goes beyond the understanding of the human being collectively and individually in the process of comprehensive care.
