摘要:Mucus leakage (mucocele) phenomena are benign lesions often found in the oral cavity, originating from salivary gland excretory duct rupture and consequent mucin leakage to adjacent tissues. These lesions usuallyoccur in children and young adults, with no predilection regarding patient sex and ethnicity, and present as bullous lesions with variable size, with the lower lip being the most affected site. Lesion color can range from anormal mucosa color, in the case of deep lesions, to bluish, in superficial lesions. This paper aims to report the case of a 12-year-old female patient with a bullous lesion located on the left side of the lower lip that appeared after local trauma which had decreased and increased in size for about 4 months. The lesion was submitted to an excisional biopsy and the obtained specimens were sent for a microscopic analysis, confirming a mucus leakage phenomenon diagnosis. The patient evolved satisfactorily in the postoperative period and has exhibited no signs of lesion recurrence for two years. The need for knowledge concerning clinical findings and careful anamnesis by dentists is highlighted, providing the correct therapeutic approach to these injuries by these professionals.
