摘要：Abstract: Increase in non-performing assets (NPAs) is directly creating its impact on the financial performance of the banks. The high level of NPAs indicates that defaults in repayment continue to increase in large numbers, and this effects the profitability and net worth of banks. This article explains the concept of NPAs and review of literature on NPAs, Select banks performance during 2009-2018 and the current status of public sector banks in terms of the profitability. The contribution of the article is analysis of the impact of NPAs on the performance of public sector banks in general and on the performance of select public sector banks in particular
