摘要：Objective: to verify the effect of pleural drain positioning on pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, and functional capacity of patients in the immediate postoperative period of coronary artery bypass grafting. Methodology: Systematic review with search of articles in MEDLINE (via PubMed), Cochrane Central, LILACS, Scielo, CINAHL and Scopus databases, with no restriction as to publication date or language. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed based on the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool. Results: The search strategy resulted in 95 titles, of which seven were included in this review, totaling 313 participants, including both genders and ages between 35 and 80 years. The endpoints found in the studies were lung function, respiratory muscle strength, functional capacity, pain, and pulmonary complications. Conclusion: The subxiphoid pleural drain seems to cause less reduction in lung function, while the effects on respiratory muscle strength and pulmonary complications are still conflicting.
