摘要：Objective: To investigate evidence on the role of pharmacists in the market of veterinary medicines for companion animals and their regulatory frameworks. Method: This is an integrative review, with the period between 2016 and 2021 as a time frame. Results: Eighteen articles were retrieved. There was evidence on the role of the pharmacist in the veterinary drug market for companion animals. Pharmaceutical services, such as pharmaceutical care, applied to the quality use of medicines for veterinary, have market potential. Furthermore, it is an essential requirement that he is qualified – with appropriate training – to handle veterinary prescriptions and companion animals. It also requires professional integration with veterinarians. Conclusion: It is recognized that the field of action of the veterinary pharmacist is promising. However, there is much to be improved in the field of regulatory frameworks, especially in terms of professional conduct in a market with different specificities; that is, races, genders, species, among others; requiring different knowledge to offer pharmaceutical services with quality and safety.
