摘要:Objective: To perform an integrative review about the consumption of medicinal plants and/or natural products for the prevention and relief of symptoms of COVID-19. Methodology: This work is an Integrative Literature Review, in which scientific papers were searched that relate ethnopharmacological studies and prevention and/or relief of symptoms of COVID-19, through the use of natural products, for which the following descriptors were used: Covid 19, natural products, medicinal plants and health. Results: Fifty papers were selected, and through inclusion and exclusion criteria, 32 scientific papers remained. The plant species cited were: Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (licorice), Allium sativum L. (garlic), Mikania glomerata Spreng (guaco), Peumus boldus (boldo), Matricaria chamomilla (chamomile), Eucalyptus globulu (eucalyptus), Zingiber officinale (ginger), Mentha spicata (mint), Mangifera indica (mango). The antiviral and anti-inflammatory activities were the most found. Conclusion: This literature review evidences the existence of ethnopharmacological studies that prove the use of natural products in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 symptoms. In addition, it is noticeable the significant increase in studies with natural products in the search for cure, prevention or treatment for COVID-19 as well as its popular use.
