摘要:Objectives: To estimate the time trends of mortality from mouth and oropharynx cancer in the elderly population, according to sex, in the city of Rio de Janeiro-RJ, over three periods, totaling 9 years (2010-2018). Methods: Descriptive study of mortality from oral and oropharyngeal cancer. Data corresponding to each ICD were collected from INCA's on-line Atlas of Mortality. Results: Men aged 60 to 69 years, and 70 to 79 years accumulated higher incidence of deaths from mouth cancer than women, and all male age groups had higher mortality rates than women, for all trienniums, in relation to oropharynx cancer. Conclusion: Etiological factors, such as alcohol and smoking may be risk factors for oral cancer; and in turn, HPV is a risk factor for oropharynx cancer.
