摘要:Gardnerella vaginalis is the bacterium responsible for bacterial vaginosis, a vaginal infection that occurs mainly in women of childbearing age due to a loss of balance in the vaginal flora. The infection presents with a fetid odor that intensifies during sexual intercourse and the menstrual period. This study aimed to analyze the rates and causes of bacterial vaginosis regarding the results found in Papanicolaou Test exams in three basic units located in the city of Redeno-PA. For the research, data were collected from the analysis of the Information System for Cervical and Breast Cancer (SISCAN) evaluating Papanicolaou Test data of 150 patients in the period from February 2021 to February 2022. The results showed that inflammation was the most prevalent finding among the analyzed PCCUs with a rate of 23.30%, followed by cocci with 22% and 20% of cervicitis cases. In addition, other microorganisms found were Lactobacillus sp. with 16.60% of cases, Gardnerella vaginalis with 8% of cases and Candida sp. with 6.6% of cases. The present study affirms the need for further studies in order to evaluate the need to expand prevention strategies and ensure good adherence to Papanicolaou Test collections, and in order to optimize the diagnostic time and treatment of bacterial vaginosis and other infections.
