摘要:Objective: To describe the advances in science regarding the use of stem cells for the treatment of hematological pathologies. Methodology: This is a literature review, descriptive and exploratory. Searches were carried out on the following platforms: Scientific Library Online (SciELO), Virtual Health Library (BVS), The Lancet, BrazilianJournalOf Health Review. Therapy with hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) is pioneered by the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation method, where these cells are infused into the patient himself. There are currently four sources of HSC: Peripheral blood; Bone marrow; The umbilical cord; Haploidentical Donor. Results and Discussion: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has specificities according to its modality, with protocols and chemotherapy regimens pre-established according to the disease, in addition to care at different levels of complexity. HSCT is a complex and invasive treatment, an increasing number of variables must be controlled to improve the patient's quality of life. Thus, with the advancement of technology and the assistance of the multidisciplinary team, regarding the appearance of symptoms, the method becomes positive for the treatment of the patient. However, it must be performed in a unique way regarding the care and symptoms that may occur. Conclusion: Therefore, the theme highlights the treatment and its importance for the present day and the benefit and hope that the treatment can offer to the patient when it does not have a positive prognosis when the disease is at an advanced stage.
