摘要:An important tool that has been used for the collective situation of disappearance of people in Brazil is the Integrated Network of Genetic Profile Banks - RIBPG. This study aimed to know the performance of Brazilian Forensic Genetics laboratories that are part of the RIBPG regarding this problem, as well as the actions used for this search in the country and its resolution. For this, a documental and descriptive study was carried out with emphasis on search methodologies and the effectiveness of the actions performed. The results showed that the political and management strategies developed together with the mobilization of society were perceptible for increasing the number of people missing alive or dead, such as the National Campaign for the Collection of DNA from Relatives of Missing Persons. With regard to the resolution of the actions, it was reflected in the considerable number of records of people located after they were implemented. The state of Amapá was the most prominent among the laboratories regarding the contribution to the Genetic Profiles Bank, followed by the states of Pernambuco, Goiás and Rondnia. These data allowed us to conclude the significant importance of the performance of Brazilian Forensic Genetics laboratories for the identification of missing persons, presenting a relevant power of contribution in the resolution of their actions.
